~The Doctor~
The doctor made the decision to kill the soldier because he knew if he didn't kill him he would just go through more pain. I think the doctor made the right decision knowing that the soldier had no chance of escape, was already in a lot of pain and he was ready to die. There was a lot of pressure from the captain to make sure the doctor would make the soldier better again so he could keep torturing him but the doctor ignored that pressure which in the end got both him and the soldier killed.
~Ophelia~
Ophelia made the decision to give up her spot on the thrown in order for her baby brother to not be killed this decision ended up killing her but she did get the thrown. I'm not sure if the decision was right or not because on one hand Ophelia was only a little girl who did't deserve to die but on the other hand the baby also didn't deserve to die. There was a lot of pressure on her to make the right decision to not let the fawn down but she also put a fair bit of pressure on herself to not let herself down and let her brother die.
~Carmen (Ophelia's mum)~
Carmen made the decision to force Ophelia to live with Captain Vidal which was both the right decision and the wrong decision to make. It was the wrong decision because if she had never gotten pregnant with the Captain neither her nor Ophelia would have died. It was also the right decision though because it made it possible for Ophelia to do the tasks and get back to the king. There was pressure on Carmen mainly from herself to remarry and make sure Ophelia didn't grow up without a dad for her whole life it just turned out the dad Captain Vidal would've been was not a good one.
~The faun~
It didn't seem like the faun had many choices, if any, because all of what he did was dictated by the king or the story line. Despite this he would've had a lot of pressure on him to perform well and get Ophelia to trust him and then betray her. He would've had a hard time trying to test someone as much as he did because he was obviously hoping she would succeed because he wanted the princess back too.
~Mercedes (House Keeper)~
Mercedes would've had to make many choices because of the position she was in. She was the insider for the people rebelling against the Captain and it was good she was because she had a roll that was quite close to the Captain, Carmen and Ophelia. It was clearly very hard for her to see one of the people she knew taken into be tortured and not be able to say anything or stop anything, if she said something or tried to stop it she would've given away her position and put herself in for torture as well but because she didn't say anything the man she knew died.
